Cyathea Medullaris/Black Tree Fern

This stunning New Zealand tree fern is one of my favourites.

It has a stout black trunk with fronds that grow to 4 m long.

On older plants the stem become black. Very fast growing

Best position is in filtered light to part shade.

It can be planted in garden beds or alternatively in pots

Soil should be kept moist and plants should be feed twice yearly with osmocote, dynamic lifter or a liquid fertiliser.
